Wormwood, like all other bitter herbs, should be taken only before meals. Then they have a beneficial effect on the stomach, improve appetite and mood. From wormwood we can make medicinal liqueur, wine and tea ourselves.
If you buy ingredients for the preparation you will not be able to buy fresh leaves, but you will therefore find dried wormwood leaves in specialized health food stores that can also be used in the preparation.
Medicinal wormwood wine
Half a handful of wormwood is poured into a liter of white wine or beer and left to stand for two weeks. Then strain and take a small glass for three to four days in a row. This stimulates appetite, improves digestion.
- 1.5 kg of sugar
- 3 sprigs of fresh wormwood (20 cm length each)
- 5 dcl of water
- 3 l of brandy, or vodka
- 1 sprig of fresh wormwood
- Chop three sprigs of wormwood.
- Put sugar and chopped wormwood twigs in a bowl and caramelize everything together.
- Intoxicating odors will spread through your house… When it is nice brown, pour water over it and mix everything well once more and let it simmer for a few minutes and then turn off the fire.
- Add another chopped sprig of fresh wormwood to this hot mixture.
- Stir and allow to cool.
- Then pour the brandy, stir and pour into a larger glass jar in which it all stands together for 5 days.
- Then strain into suitable bottles and voila… it is ready for consumption !!!!

Tea from this plant is recommended for everyone who suffers from a lack of stomach acid and hypoacidative gastritis.
- Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) 50g
- Mountain germander (Teucrium montanum) 50g
- Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) 50g
- Nettle (Urtica dioica) 50g
- Thyme (Thymus serpylum) 50g
Mix all the plants, pour four tablespoons of the mixture with 3 cups of boiling water, stir, cover and let stand for 30 minutes. Strain and drink one cup half an hour before eating unsweetened.
Note, do not use wormwood drinks:
– During pregnancy,
– If there is a risk of stroke,
– In case of damage to the stomach and internal organs,
– At the same time as taking iron supplements,
– Longer than 7 days.
For starters, you can use wormwood by putting the leaves in a pillow and in addition to a calmer sleep, it will bring you relief from colds, coughs, fatigue, clogged carriers, insomnia … It is full of essential oils whose ingredients, when inhaled, have a beneficial effect on your body.
