Chaga mushroom(Inonotus obliquusis) – a strong antioxidant

It has been used in oriental medicine as a remedy for many diseases for centuries. This mushroom, despite its not very attractive appearance, contains a huge amount of nutrients important for the proper functioning of the body.

Chaga is spread almost all over the territory of Russia, primarily in Siberia, the Altai, and the Far East.

Chaga is rich in betulinic acid, a powerful natural antioxidant, which protects body cells from free radical damage, prevents the development of inflammation, slows down the aging process, improves the condition of the skin and protects against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.

Some studies attribute anticancer properties to betulinic acid, but there is still insufficient scientific evidence for this.

Beta-D-glucans contained in chaga mushrooms effectively normalize the functioning of the immune system. The high content of polyphenols in chaga protects the cells of internal organs, especially the liver, and the active compounds prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the intestines and help avoid problems with the health of the gastrointestinal tract.

In addition, polysaccharides, which are rich in mushrooms, help reduce the levels of “bad” cholesterol, protect the walls of blood vessels from damage and reduce the risk of blood clots.

Despite all the beneficial properties of chaga, one should be careful with its use, especially for people with chronic diseases who take medication regularly. The active substances in the composition of the mushroom can interact with the drugs in the most unexpected way, so before you combine the mushroom with the drugs, consult your doctor.

In small concentrations chaga is used as a substitute for tea. It gives energy, increases appetite, restores strength, relieves headaches.

To prepare tea from this mushroom, you will need 1-2 teaspoons of dried ground mushrooms (usually sold in this form) and 350-400 ml. hot water. Let the mushroom stand for 5 minutes in hot water and drink tea twice a day.
