
You will surely use the strawberry season for various desserts and cakes, but why not try a gin and tonic with strawberries? If you like gin and tonic, then you will surely enjoy this refreshing summer version.
Ingredients for gin and tonic with strawberries:
60 ml of cold strawberry syrup
60 ml of gin
100 ml of tonic
1 teaspoon lime juice
Mint leaves – for decoration
ice
Preparation of gin and tonic:
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Then first pour strawberry syrup over it, then gin and finally pour in the tonic. Add a little lime juice and garnish with mint.
Ingredients for strawberry syrup:
1 kg of fresh strawberries
500 ml of water
200 g of sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Syrup preparation:
Remove the stalks from the strawberries, wash them, cut them in half and place in a cooking bowl.
Add water and sugar and cook on medium heat. When the water starts to boil, reduce the temperature a little and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Then remove from the stove and allow to cool completely.
Take a strainer, cover it with a layer of thin gauze and place it on a wider bowl. Strain the strawberries and syrup through it, then take the gauze, collect the strawberries and gently twist the gauze to squeeze some more strawberry syrup. stir in the lemon juice and then pour the syrup into the bottle.
Store it in the refrigerator for a maximum of two weeks.
Tips for the perfect gin and tonic:
1. Cool your glasses. At least 20 minutes before serving the gin and tonic, cool the glasses in the refrigerator.
2. Add ice. When everything else is ready, add the ice cubes to the chilled glasses. Larger cubes are better since they take longer to melt.
